Memnoch Devalios the Mentalist
The Mentalist is able to deal huge amount of damage,
but is very fragile, due to low hp he is quite easy to kill with offensives
He is one of the harder heroes to survive with
Heavy
Damage Reduction:
Chaos 100%
Hero 100%
Magic 125%
Normal 100%
Pierce 100%
Siege 100%
Spells 125%
Skills:Heavy
Innate: Focus Moonbeam
Has a limited range to be casted but lasts a long time in the area casted. Grants extra mana regeneration to heroes in the area of the beam. Is used in the Dazzle spell and which destroys the Moonbeam.
Level 1: Seal of Deflection
An ability when activated takes some of the damage that would normally affect your health and instead damages your mana. As the spell progress the amount of mana damage you take for each health damage goes in your favor ( being the amount of damage taken to your mana is smaller then it would be to your health) and eventually just damages your mana when it's active. It can be deactivated by clicking on the skill or when your mana reaches zero, and has a small cooldown before it can be reactivated.
Note: When you level up this ability it doesn't upgrade the Seal of the level you're using just the level you can use. So you must turn off the Seal then reactivate it.
Level 1: Dazzle
A spell that causes the Mentalist's Moonbeam to explode damaging all the creeps around it 50% of their current health which means it can't kill. However is extremely useful spell mid to late game when creeps have high health and only decent early on. Another reason why its great ability is because it weakens creeps so they can be finished by Moonblade. Spend one or two points into this ability keeping it as a back up then max it out around the first bonus wave.
Level 6: Moonblade
A passive ability that does a small percent of the Mentalist's damage to the creeps around the target the Mentalist is attacking. It starts off being only a small percent but eventually does more damage to the creeps around the target then to the target itself. No matter what build your doing with the Mentalist always put points into this ability when possible as it's essentially the reason for picking the Mentalist.
Level 10: Aura of Sight
Greatly regenerates the Mentalist Mana and when combined with a maxed out Seal of Deflection makes him almost invincible as he only takes mana damage, but continuously regenerates it. Use Aura of Sight as your mana starts to get low or when you know its about to because of a large group of creeps.
Note: Is not dispelable!
Summary for Mana Tanking Build:
The mana tanking build relies on managing your mana to prevent Seal of Deflection from being deactivated due to a lack of mana. This will force you to rely on low health and will also put Seal of Deflection on a cooldown which you should avoid as much as possible. Activate Aura of Sight on the extremely tough waves but remember that if haven't got Seal of Deflection at level 10, you will still lose health, and you will be easier to mana burn, when you got your Ultimate on, and it doesn't actually make you invincible as it is still possible for them to break through your mana. For killing use Dazzle as much as possible and attack creeps with low health with your Moonblade. As Moonblade is stronger on creeps that you're not attacking then the ones you are.
Summary for Train Stats Tanking Build:
This build is identical in killing as the Mana Tanking Build and is only different in how you survive. With this build you only level up Seal of Deflection one level so you can activate it only to get rid of your mana when it gets to high to prevent mana burn. Also ignore Aura of Sight this will leave you with 19 more points to put into Train Stats. This is a much more reliable and effective build that will also allow you to utilize armor effectively since you won't be relying on Seal of Deflection which isn't based on armor.
Suggested playstyle:
Mentalist is one hero who only benefits by more damage, so the more damage you have, the more he can inflict, as he is fragile, he might need a ring or two...
And getting Evasion with Arbelog Paw Boots, and later combine to Elite Elven Boots.
Since they changed Aura of Sight, the Mana Build is much safer, however it's still easy to mana burn Mentalist.
