Odo the Trader
Trader gives a nice boost to your teams money and can buy some uniqe items that can't be found anywhere else.
He is and should be played as an selfless hero, giving his team the items they need.
He is hard to play efficent as you need to know what all other heroes needs.
Armor Type:
Heavy
Damage Reduction:
Chaos 100%
Hero 100%
Magic 125%
Normal 100%
Pierce 100%
Siege 100%
Spells 125%
Skills:
Innate: Cloak of Invisibility
Makes the Trader invisible for a short amount of time, use this skill to escape creeps and dodge offense. This skill is also vital in giving supplies to allies surrounded by enemy creeps. Drop the item on the other hero instead of trying to click close to them first to prevent yourself from accidentally attacking a creep.
Collect Assets
Gives the trader a small amount of wood which increases when leveled up, use this skill early on to sell the wood you get quick cash to buy items.
Call Shop
Summons a shop at a targeted point, contains very useful items, both for your team, and items you can use to offense the other team with.
More details about all the items can be found here.
Glittering prices
Creates a aura with 900range, giving the hero who kills a creep more money depending on level of the aura, the aura is % based, so the more you level this one up, the more money will your team get when you are around.
Caravan Bomb
This skill will be countered by monsters' SpellBlock
Aim your bomb on the ground vs mosnters with spellblock
Similar to the Tempest's ultimate this skill summons a bomb behind where the trader is facing and will move toward the spot indicated by the trader's targeted area. Use the knowledge of where the bomb will appear to your advantage and instead of targeting where you want the bomb to go target the bomb so it will appear in the spot you need it to be.
Ex: There a bunch of creeps in the middle 12 o'clock and instead of targeting the creeps or near them, face yourself 6 o'clock and hold position then target the bomb in that same direction. The bomb will now appear near the creeps and if the estimated distance is right will explode almost immediately.
Suggested playstyle:
Trader should support the whole team, but mainly the tank as he is the best hero to deliver items, if he goes invisible.
Use Collect Assets as much as you can to increase your teams money gain.
If your team needs any items in the shop, level it up to that specific level, not all heroes may benefit from a Bloodstone or the Drarwen Pride, so if your team doesn't benefit from those items you should have it at least at level 8 to get Sunstone.
Stay near the front if you learn the Glittering Prices, as it increases your teams income if creeps get killed.
The Caravan Bomb should be used whenever you think a tank needs the help, a tip is going invisible before using it, go to the place where the bomb will do most damage and target the other way(as explained above)
Tips:
- Even if you can go invisible, get an armor, as a locate can easily kill a trader if you deliver items to a surrounded tank.
- Winged Leather Boots should also be in your inventory, later the combo boots, it's good to avoid stuns if they used locate. An alternative item would be the teleport scroll.
- If the other team got an thief, don't exchange lumber against gold until you have enough to buy the item you are collecting for, and when you are selling the lumber, go invisible as he wont be able to target you without using locate.
- Level 3 of the shop enables you to buy Greater Hisan, it's a great way to get other non-combat heroes faster mana.
- Always stay hidden/invisible as often as possible, especially before you gonna deliver goods.
- Since the price of Anti-magic potion is raised in V.189, the orb of absorption is good alternative item to against one offensive spell.
