I've played an attempt at enfos. It was definitely incomplete and pretty bad, biggest problem is there is no way to heal so you would lose die no matter what. Although I played it alone because nobody would join the game... www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MdSbcQg2oM&feature=channel_video_titleA better attempt but more similar to hero survival maps than enfos is this which I haven't played. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fT3P3s1YaYHaven't been playing sc2 lately so don't know if there is or isn't an enfos type map. You're better off learning how to make maps and do it yourself.

thank you for sharing this!
hmm I think I can borrow a copy from my friend just for giving a test drive on the map design system! Cheers:)

Hmm? You can play SC2 and are hyped about it but can't afford to buy your own copy of the game? Also I'm not playing SC2 due to technical problem and school, but you can still find information about custom maps through forums and just entering search terms into youtube which is how I found the second video. Official blizzard custom map forums for US server (which includes a lot of complaining) us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/13437/Teamliquid's custom map section (essentially the best SC community) www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=44Anyways the custom maps of SC2 suffer due to the popularity system and while it was supposedly improved people are still complaining that it's bad and even though I haven't tried it I'm inclined to agree given how bad the old system was. If you don't know people don't get a copy of the map they can keep even they downloaded it but instead the map is hosted by a user into the bnet server and then players can host it through the server. So the game list includes all the different types of maps only once which is good for protecting your map and to see every map, but is bad for knowing what maps are being played. Which is what the popularity system is supposed to solve, but doesn't with only the first page and half shown maps being played, the top maps are usual horrible too and new quality maps aren't played. Players end up joining games not knowing if anyone actually is in the game lobby making it difficult to get full games of unpopular maps which in turn keeps the map from becoming popular since it's based off how many times the map is played.

wait !!! To be exact, I don't have a computer which meets the minimum hardware requirements of SC2, so what I meant was to go to one of my friend's place and borrow his SC2 and PC to play around. I still don't understand the new game hosting/map downloading mechanism... so you upload your map to the bnet, then players can browse the map list to see how many maps in the bnet server? then if you want to play map A, you choose it and host it? so no map d/ling needed anymore? I will go google it, and see what I can find about this new game hosting system good luck on your school work:) world out of campus is cruel and real........XD ===================================== ok I am back... anyone who is lost as I was about the new custom game hosting system can read thiswow a PIA(pain in the Ass) hosting a game and an easy map stealer system too, no wonder sun gods do not working on their Sc2 version? that's a shame.......it has been 2 year and Blizzy has done nothing about this situation?.....guess WOW is the only thing they care about right now ?! ;p I don't think they dont know what keeps WC3 lives this long, not the Ladder, it's the Custom maps....... Have a nice weekend P.S. HBO now showing a new series the games of throne, A song of ice and fire pretty awesome if you like fantasy However I find the original novels are more interesting to me. if you read the original novels pls let me know !

It's like this. Let's say I make a map called Magister TD, in order for other people to play it I have to upload it to Bnet on my server. Once that's done everyone on my server can select my map then go into a game lobby for Magister TD or automatically make a new one for it (first person to join is the "host" but "host" title can be transferred at will or by leaving). They will have downloaded the map, but can't modify it (unless uploader allows it, maps can also be set to private so only invites can play it) and will be unable to play Magister TD if I take it down from the Bnet server. There is also a limit on how many maps I can upload onto Bnet which is why some people will send their map files directly to friends so they can host the map for them if the map maker is at their map limit or so people on different servers can upload then play the map.
Your link is an article from 2010 so the popularity system isn't the same as it was then, but still has similar problems to the article. I'm sure, based off what I've read on the forums, that it has been improved somewhat but the problem still remains that it's difficult to get attention so that a map is actually popular enough to be playable. I think it's actually harder to steal maps with SC2 compared to WC3 where you had to damage the map so others couldn't open it. I'm not sure what the poster you linked is talking about, if I were to upload Magister TD to a website sure people could steal it then.
Though like the article mentioned the popularity system was supposed to counter Dota spam that WC3 experienced, but Dota is no longer a concern with Hon and LoL. In WC3 when an unpopular map is hosted people could converge on that one hosted game and play it because it's rare to see it hosted. In SC2 unpopular maps are hosted all the time (everyone gets one listing), but it hangs several pages down in the search and players have no idea if anyone is actually in the game.

thx for your reply, let me re-phrase your words: case 1:Instead of getting a list of currently hosting game(still waiting players to join) which we had in WC3, now in SC2, you get a list of uploaded custom map list based on popularity?
case2: or you still get hosting game list but based on popularity, and there is no way to filter/search the game list with key word or map name/type?
To upload the map to the bnet server prevents hacked/forged maps being spread among players?
I understand the frustration of finding a game by going through every Fxcxxng pages, a search/filter button would be nice. Even if someone uploaded a renamed map title it might still has "TD" within the title
The refresh spam is the Dota spam you mentioned above?
If it was the case 1, for example, I and you both happen to host the same enfoMT map at the same time, when marx sees the map list, he cannot tell which game is hosted by whom so he cannot decide which game to join to ? or the system just randomly put him in one of our games?
I would consider this as the labor pain of the beta version of this new BNet system, hopefully it get fixed when the diablo3 releases. (hmm, actually this doesn't affect the game play experience of D3, does it? ;p )

It's more like Case 1, every map is listed once and the top maps are the most popular ones.
Uploading the map to the bnet server prevents hacking/forged maps because simply playing and downloading the map does not give you access to the map in editor.
There is no Dota spam and yes you can search by title.
The server will only make another enfomt game lobby if the current one is full. So if two people try to join enfomt they should be joining the same game if it has two slots open. You can still host private games though.

I see, thank you for explaining this to me this does ease the pressure of the bnet servers I think, since no more half empty games dangling on the list and send refreshing demand to bnet server every second. Not a bad idea for those already popular custom maps! Too bad the un-popular/new maps suffer and starve to death ;p
Enjoy the rest of your weekend:)

Sc2's custom map system is a total POS. I'm not going to lie the only reason I do not play sc2 is because of the totally horrible system that is Bnet 2.0. Region locked, no clans, no chatrooms ... I mean holy @#($ can it get any worse?
What saddens me even more is that it will prob be extended to Diablo 3 . . Ugh
