Ardesco the Cabalist
Cabalist is capable to clear most lanes from creeps with his spells,
he's very flexible, he can be played as tank, semi-tank and caster and isn't so hard manage.
Armor Type:
Heavy
Damage Reduction:
Chaos 100%
Hero 100%
Magic 125%
Normal 100%
Pierce 100%
Siege 100%
Spells 125%
Skills:
Innate: Naphtha
Purification can remove the effect of this skill
Throws beer at a target creep also affecting all creeps near the target. It gives the creeps a chance to miss as well as making the possible victims of extra damage when combined with Cabalist's Dragon's Breath. Mid to end game you should be using this as much as possible to provide miss chance, work with Dragon's Breath and to activate the enemy creeps spell block either to throw another Naphtha or help a teammate get off his spell.
Note: Evasion from this skill will stack with other evasions.
Level 1: Ethereal Shied
Can be casted on allied units/heroes and gives them an armor bonus as well as slowing the attack speed of any enemy melee units that attack them. If there is an allied hero that will cast Ethereal Shield for you then have them do so so you can get put points into Train Stats instead.
Level 1: Fireball
This spell is quite good mid/end game, and has a high cost.
It's good to attract creeps if you stand at such a spot that they just run past you.
Most people don't seem to realize that the damage this spell eventually outputs gets to be quite high, high enough to kill a few birds on the first bonus wave, but the mana cost is quite high at level 10.
And it's quite good to kill any stunners/other waves that are in the way to.
Note: About 4s cooldown on this skill, and mana cost increases with every level.
Level 6: Mantle of Flames
A spell that is basically a modified immolation that is one of the best group killers early on to late middle of the game. There isn't much of a trick to using it simply be near enemy creeps and you will deal damage to them as long as you can keep the spell powered. Remember that this spell can screw you over on stun waves so it is extremely important to get an anti magic potion since the flames will make the creeps constantly stun.
Note: Remember to turn off the skill when you go shopping or when there isn't many creeps around.
Level 10: Dragon's Breath
Deals damage to creeps in a wide area in front of you in the shape of a cone and deals extra damage over time if the creeps are under the effects of Naphtha. The area this spell affects is actually quite large even though it isn't always easy to see where exactly it hit. It is a very good killing spell with a low cooldown which means you should be breathing on creeps as much as possible, but make sure naphtha is on them first.
Suggested Playstyle:
Think of yourself as a caster that can also tank as you'll have to manage both your health and mana constantly. You won't ever need any damage items since you'll be killing mainly with abilities and your melee attack will only be useful early on and vs shear. Also I can not stress this enough that you need to get Anti-Magic potions on the stun waves if you plan to use mantle of flames. Even if you could normally kill them all without a potion or SB use, the enemy team can simply surround you with sheared creeps(though golems can't be sheared they are tougher). Make sure to use naphtha often especially if one of your allies has a weakness the damage they inflict, or removing spellblock from creeps and is also useful for the miss chance and extra damage from Dragon's Breath.
There is more or less 2 ways to play Cabalist, as a tank or a caster. He could be played as a semi-tank early on with his Mantle of Flames, and go over to be 100% caster when your team is ok.
Tank:
You will be the main tank, that is why you have to focus more on stats/Ethereal Shield, and pick his level 6 as soon as possible, because it will kill all creeps close to you eventually.
you should only get his ultimate early on IF your team have problems killing the creeps, later however it should be maxed, as it is one of the best skill he has.
Ethereal Shield should be maxed, as it not only gives armor, it slows the creeps hitting you, and Mantle of Flames should also be maxed as soon as possible.
Suggested Items:
- Elven Plate Mail
- Winged Leather Boots
- Elven Stalking Boots
- Arbelog Paw Boots
- Combine to Elite Elven Boots
- Bloodstone-inset Ring
- Diamond-etched Ring
- Moonstone-inset Ring
- Zircon-inset Ring
- Combine to Ring of Victory
- Ironbarks
- Dragon-scale Shield
Caster:
Level stats+Ethereal Shield up first, up to level 6, you learn Mantle of Flames, and help killing with it, later you will mainly kill with Naphtha and Dragon's Breath
Ethereal Shield should be picked as much as possible, and casted on tank when he don't have it on him, when you get to level 10, pick his Dragon's Breath, and whenever there is enough creeps around your tank, cast a naphtha, if you didn't already do that so creeps around him miss more, and use Dragon's Breath, that will maximize the damage dealt.
As the caster i wouldn't recommend getting Mantle of Flames to a higher level than 2, as you will kill more/faster/cheaper with Dragon's Breath.
Also i recommend that you play Cabalist as a "Hit and run" hero, casting the spells and moving back to a safe distance.
Suggested Items:
- Elven Stalking Boots
- Winged Leather Boots
- Tribal Staff
- Arbelog Paw Boots
- Combine to Elite Elven Boots
- Elven Plate Mail
Tips:
- Use Anti-Magic Potions to prevent most offensives.
- Increase you max mana with a Tribal staff if you want to make more use of your mana potions.
- Cabalist has no Evasion by himself, so getting Arbelog Paw Boots will help him survive longer, and they stack with Naphtha.
- Naphtha and Arbelog Paw Boots stack. Naphtha & Evasion/Combat Mastery stacks. However Evasion & Combat Mastery don't stack with Arbelog Paw Boots.
- Use Naphtha and Fireball to kill bonus waves.
